About Me
I’m Dr. Kateri Berasi, a licensed psychologist dedicated to supporting people through the emotional and psychological challenges that arise across the lifespan. My practice is a compassionate, grounded space where you can feel deeply seen, understood, and invited back into connection with yourself.
I welcome adolescents and adults of all backgrounds, working with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship struggles. At the heart of my work, I have a special focus on supporting creatives, visionaries, and those who move through life a little differently—people who often feel outside the mainstream, or who find belonging in unconventional, nontraditional communities.
My therapeutic style is collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to explore our inner world—and supported enough to begin rewriting the stories that no longer serve us. At times, I weave in creative and somatic practices such as art-making or gentle movement, guiding us out of the intellect and back into the body, where so much of our experience lives—offering new pathways to healing and expression.
I hold a doctoral degree from Long Island University, as well as a master’s and postdoctoral degree from Columbia University. I have authored book chapters and presented at conferences on topics ranging from LGBTQ+ concerns to the clinical utility of Mindfulness practices. In addition to my private practice, I am the founder and director of Transcendent Self Therapy, a group practice located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality care to the local community.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply seeking greater depth and growth, I’m here to help you find your way—with warmth, respect, and curiosity.
